Honolulu, HI (August 18, 2016) — The recently renovated Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach will be hosting an Art and Wine Show on Thursday, August 25 at 5:00 p.m. The event will feature the artwork of eminent artist, Patrice Federspiel, and a special wine tasting and light pupus will be available through Spada Bar & Restaurant, a Waikiki Italian fusion bistro located within the Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach.
“We are extremely pleased to be holding another art show featuring the work of Patrice Federspiel and to be hosting a wine tasting with menu selections by Spada at Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach,” said Henry Perez, General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach. “Our first event was hugely successful, and we hope to have more events like this in the future in order to enhance our guest experience and showcase the thriving Honolulu art scene.”
Patrice Federspiel is committed to capturing the essence of living aloha through her art. Painting had always been in her soul, but it was not until 2000 that she decided to commit herself to her craft full time. Her art ranges in diversity from visually stunning abstract watercolors to impressively thoughtful figurative paintings inspired by her life here in Hawaii. Federspiel also paints watercolors of the various flora and fauna of Hawaii, including vivid and imaginative illustrations of hibiscus, plumerias, palm fronds and honus (sea turtles). Some of Federspiel’s more fine art pieces include pet portraits and mermaid paintings that incorporate a multitude of rich colors and hues to capture the spirit of each subject with beautiful detail. Federspiel will perform live art demonstrations during the art show, allowing guests to experience the artist in her element while enjoying thoughtfully selected wines. Many of her paintings will be available for sale during the art show, also.
In addition to Federspiel’s art collection, a wide selection of wines — provided by Spada Bar & Restaurant — will be available. The wines that will be featured on the tasting menu are varietals from Sycamore Lane, a quality on-premise wine made from grapes carefully selected from some of California’s most respected wine regions. Sycamore Lane is a premium brand not available in stores, which makes its exclusivity to wine lists a rare treat for wine enthusiasts. The varietals available for the evening of the art show and wine tasting event will include White Zinfandel, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach recently completed a $20 million revitalization project that includes the complete revamping of all 403 rooms — including 99 suites — as well as updates to the building’s exterior, lobby bar and lanais. The rooms now feature contemporary wood furnishings in dark ebony atop richly decorative carpeting, suffused in a soft teal and sea-foam color scheme. The upgrades enhance the hotel’s distinct “Island Chic” character while giving it a fresh, new look. The art show is a must for both wine and art lovers alike, and the newly transformed Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach is the perfect location for this stylish event.
